The Monarch Bow was a project for 3D Modeling I class. Through the project, I learned a low to high-poly workflow to bring an object into Zbrush to be sculpted. Then high to low-poly using retopology software. I used a combination of 3D Coat and Photoshop to texture the bow.

Programs used: Maya, Zbrush, 3D Coat, Photoshop.

Concepts: When I knew I wanted to do a bow I began with silhouettes first. I had the idea of creating a bow that a druid character would use, so I wanted a design that captured nature.

My first concept was a bow made of twisted branches which were infused with magic. The branches would have a stylized wood quality, and a glowing emissive map would shine out of the wood grain.

The concept was okay, but the silhouette was wrong. So I went back to the drawing board and sketched out a few designs until this evolved out of one of my silhouettes.

Just for fun, I made some other colours too.
